Jamie Morris : Two Nights at the Opera : Don Giovanni & La Bohème
Don Giovanni & La Bohème
Two Nights at the Opera

I guess I'm now officially a fan of the opera. After going to two operas on my trip (Aida and Carmen), I went to two operas here in Los Angeles at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion. On Sunday December 9th, I saw Mozart's Don Giovanni, an opera based on the legend of Don Juan starring Erwin Schrott from Uruguay. And this Sunday, the LA Opera announced a special final performance of La Bohème and sold all tickets for only $20! My friend Sheila and I got a pair of $440 third-row orchestra seats for $40! The seats were amazing, although it was difficult to see the subtitles on top of the stage. Plácido Domingo conducted the orchestra a few feet away from us.

Jamie Morris : Jetlag and Pictures : Paramount Tree Lighting
Paramount Tree Lighting
Jetlag and Pictures

It's taken me a week to get over the jetlag after getting back from Europe. Flying west always seems to mess me up. I was fine flying east, but this week my body just wanted to wake up every morning at 3am regardless of what time I went to bed. It was tough because it was a busy week. I attended two Kings games. Unfortunately they're back to their losing ways. The Paramount Pictures Tree Lighting and Holiday Party was this week. It was a lot of fun but not as extravagant as previous years. Tonight I saw the Paramount Vantage film No Country For Old Men which was really good and much better than Cormac McCarthy's book. How often is the movie better than the book?

I've finally uploaded my pictures to the web. Also, you can out some of Dave's pictures. He spent almost a month in England, Scotland, and Wales. I started thinking back at how lucky I was to get tickets to all of those soldout matches and shows, and how lucky I was to see Amy Winehouse's concert the night before she canceled her tour. Well, this week I found out another thing that went my way. Bonde do Role, the Brazilian band that I saw in London broke up the night I saw them! They canceled the rest of their tour and the lead singer left the band! I'm sad that they're broken up and I hope they work out their issues, but I can't believe it happened the night I saw them and I may have seen their last show.
