SuperLiga Final

Tonight was the final of the new North American club championship called SuperLiga. It was one of the most exciting games I've been to in a long time. With $1 million dollars on the line, and the LA Galaxy's only real chance to win a trophy this year, the Galaxy played a horrible first half against Mexico's Pachuca. In the 16th minute, a Galaxy player deflected a ball into his own goal putting the Galaxy down 0-1. A few minutes later, David Beckham was taken out of the game for an injury that may keep him off the team for the rest of the season.

The Galaxy started playing better in the second half, but were unable to score until... in the final seconds of the game Chris Klein scored an amazing goal with a bicycle kick! The game went into overtime with noone scoring for the 30 minutes, so it was decided on penalty kicks. Landon Donovan had a chance to win the game on the Galaxy's 5th penalty kick, but his poor shot was saved by Pachuca's keeper. Pachuca ended winning 4-3 on penalties.

Sri Lanka Day

I had a nice surprise yesterday when I stepped outside. It was Sri Lanka Day in Santa Monica. I had lots of great food and sweets. I wish it was here everyday. Also this week, I saw too really funny movies: King of Kong, a documentary about breaking the Donkey Kong world record, and The Heartbreak Kid with Ben Stiller. Tonight I went to the Hollywood Bowl and saw Macy Gray, Zap Mama, and Brazilian Girls.

Jamie Morris : Patti Smith @ Santa Monica Pier : She kinda looks like Iggy Pop

Patti Smith @ Santa Monica Pier

Patti Smith played a free concert tonight on the pier as part of the Twilight Dance Series on the last night of her tour. It was really crowded so I went to the back, but I could barely hear anything so after a few songs I moved a little closer. She played lots of cover songs in support of her latest album, Twelve, a collection of a dozen covers. Some were good, some not so great. My favorites were Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" and the Doors' "Soul Kitchen". It was also great to hear "Because The Night" live.

Paramount Vespa Club

The Paramount Vespa Club (PVC) is growing! Three people in my department now have shiny new Vespas: Geoff's Vintage Red GTS 250, Les's Excalibur Grey GTS 250, and my Dragon Red LX 150. Who's next? Choose your Vespa, and then find a dealer!

Jamie Morris : Sgt. Pepper's at 40 : A Beatles Celebration featuring Cheap Trick
A Beatles Celebration featuring Cheap Trick
Sgt. Pepper's at 40

It's been awhile since my last update... let's see if I can remember what I've done. I've been riding my Vespa quite a bit. I think I've got over 1600 miles on it now. I've been riding it to work about 3 days per week. On Saturday night I saw a cool Beatles Tribute at the Hollywood Bowl featuring Cheap Trick, Aimee Mann, Joan Osbourne, Ian Ball (Gomez), Rob Laufer (Beatlemania), Al Jourgensen (Ministry), and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. And I've seen three good movies lately: Hot Rod, La Vie En Rose, and Stardust.
