Jamie Morris : Fogo de Chão : Fogo de Chão - Beverly Hills
Fogo de Chão - Beverly Hills
Fogo de Chão

My friend Isabel is finally back from Brazil so tonight we went out to celebrate at Fogo de Chão, a Brazilian churrascaria steakhouse in Beverly Hills. There is no menu at Fogo de Chão ("Fire On The Floor"), it's all you can eat. First you go to the salad bar which is amazing and then you go to your table where the servers, dressed as brazilian cowboys start bringing the sizzling fire-roasted meat and your side dishes. You're given a disk to place on your table - one side is red and one side is green. When you want meat, you turn it to the green side and the servers come around with the food, when you want them to leave you alone, you turn it to the red side. The meat is sooooo good... sirloin, ribs, filet mignon, chicken, pork, sausages, drumsticks, and tons of beef. There's so much food and it's all really, really good. It's a little pricey though... for two people, it ended up costing about $150 with tax, tip, and drinks, but it was so worth it. I was so full when I left that I didn't think I would eat for a week, but I'm ready to go back now.

Work, Work, Work

I worked way too much this week. It's nice to be busy, but I prefer leaving work at 6:00pm. I also worked from home quite a bit this weekend. The only thing I've done in the past week other than work was yesterday when I went to a Kings game. The Kings beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 in overtime. It was a great game. Next week, I have so much work to do, that I'm going to stay home a few days and work from here so I can get more done without people bugging me. At least I'll be able to watch the Olympics on TV while I work. Ice Hockey starts on Wednesday. The Kings have six players going to the Olympics: Craig Conroy (USA), Aaron Miller (USA), Pavol Demitra (Slovakia), Alexander Frolov (Russia), Mattias Norstrom (Sweden) and Lubomir Visnovsky (Slovakia). Go Team USA!

Jamie Morris : Super Bowl Sunday : I'M GOING TO GERMANY!!!!!
I'M GOING TO GERMANY!!!!!
Super Bowl Sunday

Another weekend has passed - actually a whole month has passed. I can't believe it's February already. Last night I went skating at Moonlight Rollerway. and today I watched the Super Bowl today like everyone else. I didn't really care about either team, so I decided to cheer for Pittsburgh. The first half wasn't very exciting at all, and the commercials weren't that great either. The Mick Jagger halftime show was also pretty lame. How many more times do we need to hear "Start Me Up"? Luckily, the game picked up in the second half and the Steelers ended up winning 21-10. Paramount had a commercial - the Mission Impossible 3 trailer. I think my favorite was the Sprint Locker Room commercial. The Super Bowl is often one of the most watched TV events of the year, but not in 2006. The Super Bowl is watched by less than 100 million people. The Winter Olympics which starts later this week should get a few more viewers than that. But, the biggest sporting event in the world is coming in July. The World Cup Final will be watched by over 1 billion people. Here are the top ten most watched sporting events of recent times:

 1. 2002 FIFA World Cup Final (1.3 billion)
 2. Euro 2004 Soccer Final (153 million)
 3. 2004 Olympic Games: opening ceremony (127 million)
 4. 2004 Olympic Games: closing ceremony (96 million)
 5. 2004 Super Bowl (95 million)
 6. 2005 Super Bowl (93 million)
 7. 2004 Olympic Games: men's 100m metres (87 million)
 8. 2005 Champions League Soccer (73 million viewers)
 9. 2003 Champions League Soccer (67 million viewers)
10. 2004 Olympic Games: men's 200m freestyle swimming (66 million)

Speaking of the World Cup, as I was writing this post, I got a confirmation of our World Cup ticket order. I HAVE TICKETS TO THE WORLD CUP!!!! I didn't get any tickets from the order I placed through FIFA in January, but US Soccer came through. (I take back all the bad stuff I said about them last month) We've got tickets to all three of the USA's group stage matches:

DateVenueTeams
Mon June 12Gelsenkirchen, GermanyUSA vs Czech Republic
Sat June 17Kaiserslautern, GermanyItaly vs USA
Thu June 22Nuremberg, GermanyGhana vs USA

I'm still going to try to apply for a couple more matches through FIFA during the next ticket sales period, but I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with the tickets I got. I was starting to think I wasn't going to get any tix.

The Layoffs Begin

We've all been expecting Paramount to make cuts after buying DreamWorks and today it started. Paramount announced that 240 people will be cut - 120 of Paramount's 2000 employees and 120 of DreamWorks' 515 employees. The first to go were 25 mid-level Paramount executives in the marketing, finance, international, human resources and computer systems divisions. The other 95 workers are expected to be laid off in the next week and are said to be primarily from domestic distribution.
