Jamie Morris : Happy Halloween! : It's The Great Pumpkin
It's The Great Pumpkin
Happy Halloween!

Today I decided to change the look of my website. I don't have time do the whole site today, but I'm gonna put up the home page anyways. You may notice that it looks suspiciously like some of the blogger templates. Well, that's because I'm too lazy to be creative and think up my own original design. I've got better things to do with my time... like watching The Great Pumpkin.

Boo!

Tonight, I went to Halloween Haunt at Knott's Scary Farm with my boss Ted and his family. Being the Friday before Halloween, it was a little crowded, but it was a lot of fun. We walked all around the park and went in lots of the haunted mazes, which are actually pretty scary. There's also a bunch of shows you can watch as well. We also entertained ourselves by making up pirate jokes. Why pirate jokes? Because AYEEE think they ARRRR really funny!

What's This?!?!?

It's almost Halloween and that means it's time to go see The Nightmare Before Christmas at the El Capitan Theatre. This year I went with Alex and Lisa and we had a great time. In addition to screening the movie, they also had a live organist playing scary music, a discussion with some of the filmakers, a screening of the two Tim Burton short films Frankenweenie and Vincent, and a gallery of some of the set pieces and original sketches.

From Cursed To First

I can't believe the Boston Red Sox have won the World Series for the first time in 86 years. This isn't the Red Sox I know. The usual Red Sox would have lost the last four games of the series. This can't be right. I'm still waiting for them to announce a recount of the runs in the ALCS.

It wasn't a very pleasant day at work. We found out today that 1/3 of our company is getting laid off. I'm not one of them, but 8 of my coworkers are out of a job. Seven of the eight are staying with us until the end of the year, but one was let go today.

Sorry my blog has been so boring lately, but I haven't been doing much since I've been sick. I think I'm almost better. On Saturday, I went out for a little while with Niki and Lashaun. We went to the new Barney's Beanery in Santa Monica. They have a huge menu. I tried some of their "world famous chili" and it was really good. I also voted this weekend (I'm a permanent absentee voter, so I can vote early). There was a lot to vote for here. I ended up agreeing with the LA Weekly's endorsements for most of the measures here in California. And I certainly agree with their endorsement of John Kerry, calling George W. Bush the "most dangerous president our continent has known" and a "threat to the republic and the planet". The only way to stop him is to Vote for John Kerry.

How 'Bout Them Yankees? HAHAHAHAHAHA! I knew the Red Sox would win, but 10-3? That's pretty good. If anyone has any World Series tix for me, let me know!

I'm home sick again today. I think I'm gonna go back to work tomorrow. I feel okay if I take a Cold-Eeze every couple of hours. This stuff is amazing. I wish I had some when I first started getting sick.

I went to work today, but I'm still sick. During my sickness, I saw two really great funny movies: Shaun Of The Dead and Team America World Police.

Well I guess I won't be using my NLCS tickets. I went to the NLDS Game 4 between the L.A. Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals tonight, and The Dodgers Lost. And they really deserved to lose. They only had 3 hits the entire game and their opening pitcher gave up 5 walks in 2 1/3 innings. Very bad. At least the Red Sox are still in.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 08, 2004

I got my tix today for the NLCS games here in LA if the Dodgers can come back and win the Division Series against the Cardinals. It's not looking good right now. They need to win the next 3 games in a row or they're done. Tonight, I went to a screening of Cellular. Not a bad movie, even though it's basically a 90 minute Nokia commercial. It was funny and suspenseful, but not very believable.

I'm watching the baseball playoffs this week. I'm rooting for the Red Sox and the Dodgers. It doesn't look good for the Dodgers, but the Red Sox are probably going to advance. It's too bad. I was hoping to see a World Series game here in LA.

Jamie Morris : null :

I just got back from a swing state called Ohio, and let me tell you, Cleveland Rocks! I got there on Saturday and it was a little rainy. My hotel was right near the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, so I went over to the park and took a ride on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. It was a nice little 2 hour ride on the Scenic Limited train. By the time the ride was over, the weather had changed to sunny and clear. On Saturday night, my friend Kristin and I went to the Vote For Change tour show at the Gund Arena featuring Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, John Fogerty, R.E.M., and Bright Eyes. It was a great show. The best parts were when the artists played together. Bruce joined R.E.M. for "Man On The Moon," John Fogerty joined Bruce for a bunch of songs including "Fortunate Son," "Centerfield," and "Bad Moon Rising." Michael Stipe sang "Because The Night" with Bruce, and the finale had all the groups together (including Colin of Bright Eyes!) singing "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace Love and Understanding" and "People Have The Power." Between songs, the artists all had some political messages. Colin had a couple anti-bush comments, Stipe was focused on getting everybody registered to vote, and Bruce was encouraging everyone to support Kerry.

On Sunday, I visited the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. It's not a huge museum, but it's got a lot of cool stuff. It's definitely worth a visit. The only bad thing about it today was parking. Browns Stadium is right next door and there was a game about to start as we were going to the HOF. After that I went over to the Midwest Oktoberfest and had some goodies: Beer Bratwurst with Saurkraut and a Strawberry Napolean. Mmmm.
