It's been an interesting week. At work I moved into a new cubicle. I think my old cube was better, but I don't mind moving because I like change. I also started thinking about going to school for a graduate degree. I went to a University Of Phoenix seminar at work, and that seems like a possibility for me. Phoenix allows you to do most of your work online. I also decided I wanted to learn Spanish (again). I studied it for 5 years in high school and college, but I've almost forgotten all of it. So, I picked up a textbook this week.

Just got my new Belle & Sebastian "Fans Only" DVD today. These guys are definitely the coolest band in the world. Be sure to play the "I'm A Cookoo" game to win great B&S prizes.

Happy Chinese New Year! Today, I went down to Chinatown and had some good food and almost lost my hearing because of all the firecrackers. 2004 is the year of the monkey. If you were born in 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992 or 2004, then you're a monkey. You are very intelligent, well-liked by everyone, and will have success in any field you choose.

While I was there, I noticed the new Metro Gold Line station. So, I hopped on the train and went to Pasadena for the rest of the afternoon. Trains are so great. In just a few minutes, I was at Memorial Park in Old Pasadena, a great little neighborhood. They really need a line to connect downtown LA to the beach. Maybe someday. There's a cool article in the LA Weekly this week about the Blue Line, the nation's busiest and deadliest light rail line. It connects downtown LA to Long Beach and goes through some not so great hoods. I took it one day to go to the Long Beach Grand Prix and didn't even get shot once!

Tonight, I watched the new show Parking Lot on Trio. They take a video camera and interview people in event parking lots. Episode One took place at a Motorhead concert, Cher concert, and a Sci-fi convention. The show is based on a 1986 documentary called Heavy Metal Parking Lot about people at a Judas Priest concert in Maryland. The original is soooo funny. If you haven't seen it, tune in to Trio because they've been showing it. Back when I worked at Atomic Pop, we actually distributed the video and broadcasted it online. The new episodes aren't as good as the original, but i'm sure they'll be much funnier in about 10 years.

I also tuned in to the Golden Globes tonight to see if my favorite show, The Office, would win an award. It won two awards: Best Comedy & Best Actor in a Comedy (Ricky Gervais)!

I got my taxes done online today today. I'm actually getting a refund this year! That's why I did it so soon.

I got an invite to join Orkut today (thanks Sander). Orkut is a new networking site that just launched this week. It's similar to Friendster and Ryze, but it's much better. What's special about Orkut is that it's affiliated with Google. So far I like it much better than any of the others I've tried, and it's really fast. Friendster has been painfully slow lately. It's invitation only so, if you want to try it out, send me an email and I'll send you an invite.

Happy Birthday to Allison!

I went to a screening of Win A Date With Tad Hamilton tonight which wasn't so great. A little too predictable.

Google just launched a new social networking site today called Orkut. Someone send me an invite so I can try it out.

Today was an eventful day. This afternoon, I went to see the United States Men's National Soccer Team play their first-ever appearance at their new stadium, the Home Depot Center. I went with my friend Isabel, and we had front row seats at midfield! They played Denmark's national team and tied them 1-1. The game was pretty exciting even though there weren't any real goals (both were scored on undeserved penalty kicks). The USA dominated most of the match, outshooting Denmark 16-4, but they had trouble getting their shots on goal. Their best chance was when Landon Donovan hit the post in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, the Mexican referee (who's nicknamed "el Vampiro" - the Vampire) seemed to want all the attention. He kept stopping the game for fouls (32 of them!) and giving out misconducts (7) and penalty kicks (2). Here are some pictures I took at the match.

Tonight I went to Dimples for my friend Piggles birthday party. Dimples is a Karaoke club in Burbank established in 1982 and claims to be the first in America. It was a fun party. I got to meet some of her cool friends and got to see her sing "Like A Virgin."

I haven't done too much the past couple of weeks. Spent most of my time inside watching soccer, playing playstation, and watching movies I rented from Netflix. I bought a bunch of video games but I really want to beat Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 before I move on to the other ones. I just finished watching Curb Your Enthusiasm First Season DVD that I rented and it's really funny and most of it is filmed here in Santa Monica. I saw two movies in the theater this week: Something's Gotta Give which is cute and funny, but a little long, and Tokyo Godfathers which is a great anime about some bums that find an abandoned baby.

It finally warmed up here this weekend. It's been very cold the past few weeks. I went rollerblading at the beach this weekend for the first time in a couple of months. Friday night, I went to a screening of another really bad Paramount movie called Paycheck. I hope they make some better movies this year. I signed up for Netflix this week. I highly recommend signing up for it if you watch a lot of movies. I rented six movies just this week, and it's only $19.95/month. And, as I always do, I watched a lot of soccer this weekend. The new Spanish soccer channel that I got last week is now in English!

It was kinda nice having four days off and nothing to do. I spent most of the weekend playing video games, watching tv, and selling old junk on ebay. I also bought a plane ticket to South Padre Island (I'm going there next month) and I went to see a good movie called Monster, a true story about Aileen Wuornos, America’s first female serial killer.

Happy New Year! I spent most of the day playing my new Playstation 2 that I bought yesterday. It's so much better than my old Playstation One. This afternoon I went to see Tim Burton's new film Big Fish which was really good even though I had to sit in the front because the theatre was completely full. I got a big surprise tonight as I was flipping through my cable channels looking for some TV to watch. I've got a new soccer channel called GOL TV which covers matches in Spain, Italy, Central and South America. It's in Spanish, but that's okay. Now I can watch Beckham and Ronaldo playing for Real Madrid live!
