It's the end of the year and instead of making resolutions for next year, I like to look back through my blog and remember what I did this year. It's a good thing I wrote everything down because I have a terrible memory. Here are some of the highlights:

I'm back from my quick trip to Maine for Christmas. While I was there, I ate, opened presents, went to a Portland Pirates game, and watched Mr. Bean - The Whole Bean, and wasted a lot of time at the airport.

When I left LA on Wednesday, I got to the airport 3 hours before my flight because they were saying there were going to be huge lines. When I got there, I walked right in, sat down at the gate, and waited for 3 hours. There were no lines. The flight was to Philly where I needed to make a connection to Portland. The Portland flight was delayed because the flight crew hadn't arrived yet. When they arrived, we boarded the plane and sat in the plane for an hour before the captain came out and told us he found a suspicious object (a pair of shoes) on the plane and he needed to call the police to have them removed. It took the police about 45 minutes to arrive! When they got there, they told us we all had to get off the plane before they could removed the shoes. So we all got off, they removed the shoes, and we got back on. What a waste of time. We need to get rid of this terrorist threat level system. It's scaring people unnecessarily and wasting people's time.

The first thing I did today was go to the movies and see the final Lord Of The Rings film: The Return Of The King. It was amazing. Definitely the best of the three films. Now that I've seen the final movie, I can say without a doubt that these are the greatest films ever made. If you have haven't seen them, you need to. It's even better if you read the books first.

Jamie Morris : null : PDE Holiday Party
PDE Holiday Party

It's time for an update. I've had a very busy week.

Monday was my last class of the quarter. Hopefully, I'll get to sign up for another class or two in the winter quarter.

Wednesday, my dear friend Alex made me a delicious filet mignon dinner with some polish vodka for dessert. Mmmm.

Thursday morning I was a little hungover because last night's dinner turned into quite a little party. Thursday night, I went to see Rufus Wainwright at Wiltern Theatre with Lisa. He was amazing live. Much better than we both were expecting.

Friday was our holiday work party. We went to Jillians at Universal Citiwalk. Erin and I bowled, played video games, went ice skating, and drank a lot. It was fun.

Today, I did a little Christmas shopping, but I'm still not finished. I must finish tomorrow because I'm leaving for Maine on Wednesday. Tonight, I went to a taping of the Graham Norton show, a British comedy talk show. Graham was in Hollywood this week filming shows for Christmas. I almost didn't get in to the show because my bus ran out of gas on the way there and I was late. When I got there the audience was full and they said I wouldn't get in, but I made friends with a couple VIPs and ended up getting in and sitting in the front row! The guests for the show were Tony Curtis, Pamela Anderson, and KC and the Sunshine Band. It was a lot of fun. It should air on Channel 4 in Britain next week. I'm not sure if it'll be on BBC America or not.

I spent the whole weekend inside watching soccer on TV. I watched three English Premier League matches (Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool), the Intercontinental Cup (Boca Juniors vs. AC Milan), the FIFA World Youth Championship quarterfinal (USA vs. Argentina), and Gemio's "great escape" from relegation in the Brazilian Championship.

I've seen a couple of movies so far this weekend: Timeline and The Triplets Of Belleville. Both of them were okay, but not great. Tonight I went to see a really cool play called Among The Thugs at the Odyssey Theatre. It's based on a book written by Bill Buford. Bill was an American living in England in the early '80s who wanted to know more about fooball hooliganism, so he joined a group of Manchester United supporters to try to find out why they were so violent. He followed them around for three years and wrote about his experiences in the book. On the way to the play, I saw Courtney Love shopping on the promenade here in Santa Monica which was kinda funny because I've been listening to Hole all week since visiting her hometown of Olympia, Washington on Sunday.

Paramount Tree Lighting

Today was the big the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at Paramount. Every year we have to suffer through speeches to get some bread pudding and hot apple cider and to see the tree lit.

Through The Mountains

I'm back from Seattle. It was a great trip. The train ride was amazing. Check out all the pictures I took before my camera battery died which include the Southern California Coast, farm and wine country, forests and snow covered mountains in Oregon. I arrived in Seattle 36 hours after I left Union Station in Los Angeles. I spent the weekend with my friend Jen who showed me around Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, and Ft. Lewis Army Base where she lives and works as a medic. Trains are fun. I want to go on another one.
