Today was a really cool day. I got up and had an English breakfast with Isabel at the King's Head. Then we went to the MLS Cup championship match at the Home Depot Center. The MLS Cup is basically the Superbowl of American soccer. Landon Donovan scored two goals to lead the San Jose Earthquakes to a 4-2 win over the Chicago Fire in the highest scoring MLS Cup match ever! It was a great game.
Tonight, I went to see Michael Moore speak at UCLA's Royce Hall. He spoke for about two hours about the Oscars, his new book, soccer (he sang a few Arsenal songs!), and most importantly: how to get Bush out of the White House next year. He was very entertaining. I got to meet him after the show and he signed my copy of Dude, Where's My Country?
And one last bit of Sunday night excitement... I just booked a trip on the Coast Starlight train from Los Angeles to Seattle on Thanksgiving Day! I'll be taking the train all the way up the coast and arriving in Seattle Friday night, spending a couple of days with my friend Jen, and then flying back to LA on Sunday.
Today was a long day because I got up at 4:30am to watch the EPL on TV. I also went to see a great movie called Shattered Glass. I also saw two other good movies this week: Elf and Matchstick Men.
link to this postI've been a little jetlagged this week, so I've been too tired to do anything. This weekend I saw a couple movies: Tupac: Resurrection and The Station Agent. I also went to see a John Lennon art exhibition at Borders in Santa Monica and watched a lot of TV: The Office series finale, the MLS semi-finals, and the final Nascar race of the season.

I'm back from England and I had a great trip. I was there for 5 days (excluding the flights) with my friend Kristin. We started the trip in London. We stayed at a Thistle Hotel in Lancaster Gate near Hyde Park. The weather was great there, and I spent most of my time shopping at places like... Soccer Scene, Ben Sherman, and Fred Perry. I also had a great meal at Wagamama and went to some cool pubs.
Then we took the train to Birmingham where where we did some more shopping and found a great soccer store called JJB Sports. Just outside of Birmingham in a small town called Bournville is the home of Cadbury Chocolate. We took a tour of Cadbury World and had some free chocolate... mmm. Then we went to see Elvis Costello at Symphony Hall. It was a great show. He played for almost 3 hours, and then we got to meet him after the show.
The next day we were off to Liverpool. We did some more shopping and walking around town on Saturday. The first four days of the trip was great, but what I really came for was day five. We got tickets to see the Liverpool vs. Manchester United soccer match at Anfield Stadium. We were a little worried about going, because we heard about how crazy English football matches can be, and also we weren't even sure where the seats that we paid $450 each were. Everything turned out better than we expected. We had amazing seats, just seven rows from the field! I got to go up to the sideline and take pictures while the teams were practicing. The crowd (44,000) was great and completely under control. And Manchester United won 2-1!
Here are the pictures I took.

I went to Phoenix this weekend for the Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway. On Sunday, Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the race which was a really exciting one. One of the best so far this year. Also in Phoenix, I went to Reata Pass, the Park 'n' Swap, Old Town Tempe, Old Town Scottsdale, and Cracker Barrel. Now I must pack. I'm going to England for a week. Be sure to tune into Fox Sports World on Sunday to watch Liverpool vs Manchester United. I'll be there at Anfield Stadium pretending to cheer for Liverpool.
