Well, I had a pretty uneventful weekend. I saw a couple movies. The Hulk was okay and Whale Rider was excellent. Tonight, I went to one of KCRW's World Music concerts at the Hollywood Bowl. It was "Global Divas" night. I got to see Morcheeba and Cesaria Evora. Good show.

I just saw the best documentary ever: Gigantic (A Tale of Two Johns). It's about the band They Might Be Giants, who were one of my favorite bands when I was in high school and college. But, the documentary was so good, I think anyone would like it. If you'd like to hear one of their crazy songs, all you need to do is DIAL-A-SONG.

The results are in! I got an A- in my Photoshop class that I was taking this quarter. I'm a little disappointed though. I've taken 10 other classes at UCLA Extension and this is my first grade that wasn't an A. Oh well, I think all I needed was a C or better to get reimbursed for the class by my employer.

I just got home from a screening of Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas. It was a pretty good movie, but Finding Nemo is way better.

Jessie & Beth sailing

I've been in Maine for the past four days visiting my family. I had a lot of fun. Here's a quick rundown of what I did. And here are the pictures.

Saturday: I went out for frozen custard and went to Oxford Plains Speedway to see the famous racecar driver Tim Cook. By the way, what's racecar spelled backwards?

Sunday: I went for a boat ride on Androscoggin Lake in my parents new boat.

Monday: I went to Dysart's Truck Stop, Acadia National Park, and I finally had some lobsters and clams.

Tuesday: I went for a tour of the Androscoggin Mill where my uncle works and learned how paper is made. Also, we had a birthday party for me even though my birthday isn't until July. I got some CDs, a Timbuk2 messenger bag, and an Amazon.com gift certificate.

Tonight I went to the world premiere of Claustrophobia, a scary movie written, directed, and produced by my pal Mark Tapio Kines. I had the pleasure of sitting next to actress Niki Simental who is one of stars of the film and also my former office-mate Trixie who I haven't seen in almost a year.

My Photoshop class is finally over! I learned a lot, but I'm sure glad it's done. No more classes for me until fall quarter. It's time for a summer break.

Also today, Manchester United traded David Beckham to Real Madrid. This really sucks for me because I have tickets to see Man United in July.

Jamie Morris : null : Home Depot Center
Home Depot Center

Today turned out to be a much more exciting day than I expected. I got up early and some pics for my Photoshop project which is which is a one image photo essay of Sunset Blvd. Then I met up with Lauren and we finally went to see Finding Nemo. It was amazing. The folks at Pixar are getting really good. After the movie we went to the C.O.L.A. Art Exhibition at the Barnsdall Art Park. A nice little area that I never knew existed. Then it was off to Silver Lake for yummy sandwiches at Say Cheese. I took a few more pics for my project and we decided to go check out the brand new Home Depot Center to see the LA Galaxy play. It turned out to be an amazing game. The Galaxy came from behind to win 2-1 with a goal headed-in by Cobi Jones and a game winning penalty kick by Carlos Ruiz. But the game was won by the Galaxy goalie, Kevin Hartman, when he saved a penalty kick with just seconds left in the game.

It's Friday the 13th so I went out and saw a scary movie called The Eye. It was great and it had a bunch of scary parts. Plus it had a pretty good story. The sun is finally out after two weeks of gloom. This weekend should be nice, but I'm going to have to spend a lot of time doing my final project for my Photoshop class which ends on Tuesday. I hate homework.

Today I had lunch at Phillippe's l for the first time. Phillippe's is a really old sandwich restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. They've been around since 1908 and they invented the "French Dip Sandwich." I had a pork french dip sandwich with bleu cheese. Mmmm. After work, I went to see a screening of Holes. It's a really good kids movie by Disney adapted from Louis Sachar's teen adventure novel.

Jamie Morris : null : Happy Birthday Alex!
Happy Birthday Alex!

Oh my head. I've had a hangover all day and I bet I'll still have it tomorrow. Today I went to Hollywood because I had to take some pictures for my Photoshop class project. While I was there I went to see Winged Migration, a great documentary about the migration of birds. I also went to Mel's Drive-In and got the $10 burger. It was pretty good, but it doesn't compare to the burgers at Father's Office.

Today I spent the day at the beach celebrating Alex's birthday. The weather hasn't been that great, but we saw the sun for a few minutes. It was tons of fun and I've got some really funny pics of Alex!

Barbara Streisand is suing californiacoastline.org for posting a picture of her estate on their website. I decided to check out this site and found they also have a picture of my "estate" posted! Should I sue?!?!?!?

Wow. I went a whole week without going to the movies. Actually, I went to see Finding Nemo, but it was sold out. Today I went to the Orkin Bug Fair. It was pretty neat, but very crowded. There were all kinds of bug exhibits and a presentation on Insect Cooking and Entomophagy (eating bugs) by David George Gordon "The Insect Chef". My friend Lauren went on stage and helped him fry up some scorpions. I tried a rice dish with crickets and ants. It wasn't very tasty.
